Acne And Alternative Acne Treatments

acne June 28th, 2008

10acne.com - asked:

Acne is very common and medically classified as a skin disease. They are caused by excessive secretion of oily substance called the sebum by sebaceous glands. Although sebum is very good in maintaining skin and hair texture, excess secretion of the same gets stuck in hair follicles and leads to formation of acne lesions. Due to the oily nature of sebum and its exposure to dust and dirt causes bacterial growth and results in what is commonly known as the pimple.

Pimples are not the only outcome of such bacterial formations. Cysts, whiteheads, blackheads are also quite common depending on exposure and skin types. Occurring mainly in the age group of 10 to 40 years, these conditions need to be cared for with various acne treatments available.

Various kinds of acne and various skin types need different treatments. Keeping this in view, there are some fast acne treatments while there are some that take some time to help one get rid of acne. Although acne treatments are available across drug store and on the internet, it is important to know one’s skin type and the kind of acne that they have been afflicted with before deciding on a cure. In case you cannot assess your skin type, it is recommended that you consult a dermatologist and follow his prescription instead of medicating yourself.

Herbal treatments for acne are much sought after now a days, since traditional acne treatments have become very expensive and so have dermatologists. Herbal or alternative acne treatments have become more and more popular due to lack of considerable side effects that most acne treatments seem to have.

Not only the lack of side effects, but also additional benefits like vitamin and botanical nourishments such as DMAE (anti-oxidant), anti-ageing compounds, vitamins and other supplements in alternative acne treatment make skin pristine, add tone and improve texture.

Pharmaceutical cures for acne treatments have also evolved since and have stopped making the “magic pill” that fell out of vogue. Although many a company has made the magic pills in the past, their expensive touch and side effects have left them in the cold. Taking a cue form alternative treatment methods that comprise of herbal acne treatment, pharmaceutical medication for acne treatment have evolved to integrate the goodness of the additives in herbal medicines and have become more affordable and grown in variety to suit various skin and acne types.

Alternative acne treatments also include no medication. Yes, no medication. Acne can also be cured over a longer period of time through sheer self discipline of eating nutritious, anti-oxidant diet, reducing stress levels, drinking more water, proper hygiene and through regular exercise.

Diet recommended for people plagued with acne would consist of fruits and vegetables, no-oily and non-fatty food taken with a lot of fluids. This will help in removing toxins from your system and produce healthy sebum. This kind of diet is also good for overall health and contributes to proper digestion and detoxification.

Reducing stress levels would result in reducing pressure thus controlling the secretion of sebum and. This can be achieved through meditation or even getting proper sleep of at least eight hours a day.

Drinking more water helps in keeping your body hydrated, since dry skin also causes acne and inflammation. This increases kidney function and removes toxins via the urinary route.

Exercise helps reduce toxin levels due to sweating and opens up pores on your skin. It also regulates the water levels in your body. Exercise also contributed to reduction of stress and contributes to overall health.

Hygeine for acne treatment would include regular washing of the affected areas. Always wash with plain water, several times a day. Although, washing with water removes only surface dirt, this would prevent further development of acne. Never use harsh or oily soaps. Try to use a normal soap that would help retain the pH balance of your skin.

Added to this, further alternative remedies for acne are available, which could be classified as grandmother’s cure. These remedies are local to regions and countries and have been developed with many years of experience. They are known to work because they have been made to the cure acne in specific environmental and pollution specifications of the said region.

However, despite all these remedies and perspectives of looking at acne treatments, it is strongly advised to take the opinion of a qualified dermatologist before embarking upon any acne treatments.

where can i find tinted acne treatment cream in the UK?

acne June 26th, 2008

DixieDelight001 asked:

it has to be tinted and in cream, not gel. It can’t be clear or invisible. It has to be tinted. I used to get clearasil maximum strength acne treatment cream in tint from the USA, but it got to be costly to order. I would like to get some somewhere in Leicester or Loughborough. It doesn’t have to be brand clearasil. What shops do have these kinds of treatment? Thanks!

Acne Treatments to the Rescue

acne June 25th, 2008

Yuki Shoji asked:

Many people suffer with acne, but adolescents seem to be the most needing acne treatments. Reports show that ninety percent of people affected with acne are teens. In most cases, patients respond to acne treatments but it may take months and in some cases years before achieving the desired results.

While acne persists to afflict the lives of many, a wide range of products presented as acne treatments is available on the market. Many of these have been clinically tested and reported as effective, but many have not been scientifically proven as effective but nevertheless continue on the market.

Needless to say, always consult a health care professional for guidance in choosing the right acne treatments for your condition.

There are several forms of acne treatments available and considered somewhat effective to fight acne. Among the most suggested treatments, you will find the approach of killing the bacteria found in the acne as a result of blocked follicles.

In this case, antibiotics will be used as the desired acne treatment. The most common antibiotics are tetracyclines. For the same effect, a bacterial substance such as benzoyl peroxide is also used. Benzoyl peroxide is a topical treatment applied on the skin affected.

Although these acne treatments may seem to relieve the acne, they do not cure it. They simply treat the effect (the acne) and not its cause (oil secretion). Acne is primarily caused by oil secretion, which in turn causes the follicles to block and form cysts.

As a result, if the oil secretion problem is not resolved, acne is more likely to reoccur as soon as you stop using these forms of acne treatments. In essence, all treatments that treat the acne without treating its cause are only emergency treatments that temporarily relieve the problem. This forces the acne sufferer to repeat the treatment over and over until he decides to treat the cause of the acne.

Perhaps it means a change in diet or trying one of the other acne treatments, one that treats the root of the problem.

Derivatives of Vitamin A are also often used in acne treatments. Isotretinoin is one of the well know vitamin A derivatives. Clinical studies show that daily intake of isotretinoin will show results within a few months. The derivatives of vitamin A reduce oil secretion from the glands, and proved to be effective in treating severe and acute acne.

Contrary to the antibacterial acne treatments, acne treatments using derivatives of Vitamin A, such as isotretinoin, have found to have a longer lasting effect and even cure acne in some cases. But be aware that this solution is not perfect; it also has side effects that should not be ignored. These treatments should not be taken lightly and should always be followed closely by a health care professional.

Nowadays, acne sufferers have a wide range of treatments and approaches to help them in their fight against acne. The important thing to remember is to always research an acne treatment, along with its side effects, before going ahead. You would not want the unpleasant surprise of seeing your condition getting worse instead of better.

Is Microdermabrasion Acne Treatment For You?

acne June 19th, 2008

Yuki Shoji asked:

As we all know, our skin is constituted of millions of cells, which have the task of protecting us from harm and regulate our body temperature. Thousands of these skin cells die and new ones appear, regenerating our skin.

But as time passes by, this regeneration process slows down and skin problems begin to surface. This is when the dark blotches appear, along with the wrinkles, and you begin to ponder on techniques that will improve your skin condition. If you happen to also suffer from acne, then micraodermabrasion acne treatment might be the answer to your skin problems.

Micraodermabrasion acne treatment is non-surgical, non-invasive new technique to smooth the skin. It only affects the outermost skin layers and is applied in two stages. First, a microdermabrasion acne machine is employed for cleaning the skin and pores, somewhat like a vacuum cleaner, removing dead and flaky skin cells and other skin debris.

This microdermabrasion acne treatment can be done without anaesthesia because it isn’t painful. It feels somewhat like a deep cleansing massage.

In the second stage of the microdermabrasion, a fine stream of aluminium oxide crystals is diffused on the skin. When applying the microdermabrasion acne treatment, the aluminium oxide crystals have the effect of gently smoothing the skin surface by removing the exterior layer of dead skin cells. Skin surface irregularities may be permanently smoothed over time, but only after several microdermabrasion acne treatments. You may be surprised to see a red healthy glow on your skin after the completion of the treatment. This is due to the fact that the treatment increases circulation in the skin, which brings nutrients and oxygen responsible for the soothing and regeneration of the skin, giving you a fresh new skin.

The microdermabrasion treatment is presently applied by several medical centers in the treatment of acne and acne scars. The duration varies according to the acne patient’s skin condition.

A mild case of acne may take ten sessions of microdermabrasion acne treatment, whereas more severe cases of acne may require more sessions in order to get the desired results. The duration of each session of microdermabrasion acne treatment may take as little as ten minutes to up to two hours, depending on the patient?s skin condition.

The norm is usually forty-five minutes for the first sessions, but time may be reduced to half an hour once the acne condition improves.

With the microdermabrasion acne treatment, you may get visible results rapidly, but you must be advised that IT does not cure the disease completely, because it treats the effects of acne and not its cause.

This is the main reason why repeated sessions of the microdermabrasion acne treatment are needed. Also, you should not be using Ro-accutane while under this treatment.

Microdermabrasion acne treatments exist under several forms. You may get the microdermabrasion acne treatment through an inexpensive do-it-yourself lotion package sold in pharmacies, or through medical and salon machines with the procedure described above.

Remember, whichever method you choose, always consult your health care professional first.

I am looking for a really good acne treatment?

acne June 18th, 2008

eusuntblonda asked:

I don’t have a lot of acne, only on my forehead, and I can’t say its really bad because its not. But it does bother me. I don’t break out a lot and when I do its only one spot, but that one gets really red and hurts a lot and than it scabs. So I have a lot of scars from them, and I want to get rid of them. What would be a good treatment?
