What is the the best acne scar treatment for African-Americans?

acne June 11th, 2008

Tiana asked:

Until now I have had mild acne but nothing that left any permanent scars. About 3 months ago, I started having really bad breakouts on my forehead and it left a few scars. Normally, I would just apply cocoa butter to the scars and they would eventually go away but I have had these scars for two months and I have seen little to no improvement. Does anyone know of a good acne treatment for African Americans? Preferably something that shows quick signs of improvement.

Best Acne Treatment - Acne Skin Care

acne June 9th, 2008

Jason Popper asked:

Many people who suffer from a severe case of acne often drive out, spend a chunk of money on over-the-counter acne treatments, and they hope for the best. Inexperienced acne sufferers often fall for the common trick acne companies like to play on them: these companies promise acne free skin in just a week or two, permanently. However, these products are often packed with harmful chemicals that actually slow the healing of acne, irritating and damaging the skin in the process.

It is important to examine the acne treatment ingredients, but with so many ingredients listed, it’s often difficult to separate the good chemicals from the bad. Also, even if the chemicals do help treat acne without side consequences, it is unclear as to whether those chemicals won’t “backfire” on your skin, leading to an acne breakout. Unfortunately, since everyones’ skin type is different, no doctor can know for certain which acne treatment will work for your skin type. The mainstream acne treatments often cost much more than acne treatments that work for your skin, and they often don’t yield the expected results.

There are a bountiful variety of acne - mild acne, whiteheads, blackheads, cystic, nodule, moderate - these acne all must be treated in different ways. When these acne are treated in the wrong way, acne scarring often results, leaving permanent marks on the face for years to come.

However, is there a real cure to acne? This really depends on the person. Some people have been suffering from severe acne for over twenty years. Now, don’t think those people weren’t trying to get rid of their acne. In fact, those people are the ones trying the hardest to remove their acne, trying every acne treatment, spending thousands of dollars each year on a variety of acne treatments. From laser surgery to strong medications, none of them work. But, hopefully you’re not this worst case scenario. There are, in fact acne treatments that work for your skin type, however you need to carefully examine just what your skin needs to be acne free.

The majority of acne treatments take time to work, but when you find your miracle acne treatment, that is when your acne gets clear the fastest. There are many acne treatments that initially treat acne, but in the long run the acne comes back even worse, and more difficult to treat than before. The average time for a permanent acne cure is six to eight weeks, but expect up to half a year with a good acne treatment. You’ll also probably receive a pimple here and there after the treatment, but those individual pimples can easily be treated with a good acne spot treatment.

it’s important to be wise with your acne treatment purchases, and always be alert for the next acne treatment research. There are very unique acne treatments being developed each day, and one of these new acne treatments may work for your skin.

Acne | Causes of Acne | Effects of Acne | Acne Treatment

acne June 8th, 2008

Alien asked:

There are several acne care treatment methods that work well and are not very time consuming or expensive. Such techniques would be the treatment with alpha hydroxy acid or several forms of chemical peels that can do wonders for zit treatments. These methods of getting rid of acne are proven and effective and many cases of patients suffering from aggravated pimple irritation found these to be the perfect acne treatment. In the following article we will look closely at the above-mentioned acne care treatment methods and help you decide which technique will work best for your pimple problems.

Acne Care Treatment

The causes of acne are tied to the changes that happen when a child passes from infancy to puberty. Many persons still believe that acne is caused by dirty skin. The truth is, instead, is that to only wash the skin does not make acne disappear, nor does it prevent it. Adult acne treatment methods works just like those addressed to other age groups. To wash the skin, however, helps to remove the excess of sebum and the dead cells of the skin, and adults should be aware of this as well. Many persons use every type of product, including alcoholic detergents and exfoliant creams, often irritating the skin more than clearing it! Adult acne treatment approaches should also consider the social and psychological effects of adult acne. To wash the face two times a day, in a delicate way with water and a delicate detergent, is the best choice. However, acne is caused from a complex array of biological factors that cannot be eliminated just by washing. For this reason, it is necessary to begin a serious adult acne treatment focused on the problem of acne.

Adult acne treatment myths and facts

In some cases, acne also persists in the adult age. This type of acne, generally, hits the skin of the face, but also the one of the body, and men are more exposed then women. Adult acne treatment for women takes into account the fact that the appearance of this type of acne is parallel to the menstrual cycle. In other cases, the acne is introduced randomly in the adult age: this type of acne plagues men and women alike. Acne is not caused by food, but some food items do have the potential to irritate the skin. To follow a tight diet will not recover your skin. While some think that their problem of acne is aggravated from the foods they consume (like the chocolate, drinks, fat oysters and foods), there are no scientific tests that demonstrate this being true. However it is not a mistake to avoid the fatter foods, but a focused and well-applied adult acne treatment is also necessary in order to get rid of this annoying condition. There are several ways to eliminate zits in adulthood. The most successful acne treatment methods may include acne blemish laser treatment, acne rosacea treatment, laser acne treatment. Consult with your dermatologist in order to determine which adult acne removal treatment will work best for you.

I tried the Clean&Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment yesterday, and I applied it on my acne as directed. It started to burn my face, and I now have redness around each pimple. The pimple; however, reduced in size from the spot treatment. What I am asking is how to cure the redness left from the chemical burn?
Thank you. :(

Alternative Acne Treatments

acne May 27th, 2008

Yuki Shoji asked:

Looking for that miracle acne treatment? I am sad to say there is no one acne treatment that cures all types of acne. What should you do? The remedy may reside in alternative acne treatments.

Many people with this chronic skin condition have no other alternative but to apply a mix of different forms of acne treatments. This is true due to the fact that acne is often the result of a series of factors, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact cause.

There are several alternative acne treatments available to help you relieve your acne condition, but you must be aware that there is no miracle treatment. These are generally effective, but take time.

You may eventually get that healthy skin so much desired, but how long it takes depends on the type of treatment applied. The alternative acne treatments most commonly used are:

1) Herbal remedies

2) Home remedies

3) Natural treatments

Herbal remedies are a good alternative if you desire a less aggressive treatment, compared to some acne prescription drugs that may cause some side effects. However, herbal remedies are not the perfect solution. One important drawback is the time it takes to obtain results.

With some of these alternative acne treatments, you may not see any significant changes to your skin before one month of daily treatment. Also, not many scientific studies exist to support herbal remedies as an effective treatment.

Home remedies are pretty much like the herbal remedies. Also presented as a good alternative to the expensive medicated treatments, being cheaper and having practically no side effects.

But just like herbal remedies, not many scientific studies exist to support home remedies. But most important, these treatments are not known to give you quick results, compared to the results obtained by the use of medicated treatments.

Natural treatments are very similar to the other alternative acne treatments already mentioned. These treatments normally do not cause any side effects, and may take several weeks before noting any significant improvements.

Also, not many scientific studies exist to support natural remedies. The main difference lies in the price. This form of alternative acne treatment may cost more that the herbal remedies and the home remedies.

Natural treatments are often treatments using processed natural products you buy from the health store, rather than using affordable natural ingredients with which you can prepare the treatment yourself. Natural treatments are also known as synthetic treatments.

All things compared, there is no particular alternative acne treatment that offers a notable advantage over another. What you should retain is that if you are in a hurry and can take the side effects, you should opt for the prescription acne drugs.

On the other hand, if you are not in a big hurry you can experiment with a combination of alternative acne treatments until you find the right formula for you.

Typical Acne Treatments that Work

acne May 26th, 2008

Yuki Shoji asked:

Nowadays, there are plenty of acne treatments available on the market that claim to work in the fight against acne. To name just a few of those acne treatments that work, you will find prescription medications, herbal treatments, and over-the-counter treatments.

But you should not believe all that is advertised, because several of these said acne treatments that work may not be as good as they claim to be and may cause undesirable side effects. Therefore, never start an acne treatment before consulting a health care professional for proper guidance.

Some clinically proven acne treatments that work to combat acne are:

1) Accutane

2) Salicylic acid

3) Benzoyl peroxide

4) Tea tree oil

5) Green tea cream

Accutane, also known as the miracle drug, is the best prescription medication that works in neutralizing the bacteria found on acne. It is a chemical derivative of vitamin A. Accutane is particularly used in the treatment of severe cystic acne.

This is a powerful medication that should not be taken lightly. Although it may be an acne treatment that works, the side effects are not negligible. Accutane may cause birth defects.

Salicylic acid is an over-the-counter acne treatment that works by ridding the top skin layer of dead skin cells. It also opens the plugged follicles and helps the skin to renew itself, reducing the risk of pore blockade and breakout.

Salicylic acid is a mild acid that acts as a keratolytic agent. This treatment is considered safe and effective for treating patients of most skin types suffering from mild acne, oily skin, textural changes and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. However, it may cause mild skin dryness and a mild skin irritation, but nothing that cannot be alleviated by applying a light oil-free moisturizer

Benzoyl peroxide is an over-the-counter acne treatment that works by eliminating the acne-causing bacteria lodged in the skin. It is affordable and considered almost as effective as some prescription acne treatments. However, benzoyl peroxide may cause skin irritation in the first couple of weeks and even seem like your acne is getting worse, but be patient and you will see your condition improve within 4 to 6 weeks.

Tea tree oil is an herbal acne treatment that works just as effectively as 5% benzoyl peroxide. The tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of the native Australian tea tree plant (Melaleuca Alternafolia). It is applied topically and inhibits the growth of fungus, bacteria, and viruses.

Green tea cream is an herbal acne treatment that works just as effectively as a 4% benzoyl peroxide solution. Just like the tea tree oil, this cream may be considered an effective herbal alternative to traditional prescription medications. Herbal acne treatments that work have the advantage of causing much less side effects and of being less harmful than prescription drugs.

Those are basically the clinically proven acne treatments that work. So, if you’re suffering from acne, try any one of these treatments. But keep in mind; don’t try any particular treatment without having discussed with a health care professional first.

Acne Treatment. is it What You are Looking For?

acne May 25th, 2008

Esteri Maina asked:

You will be surprised with the number of products in the market for Acne Treatment? They leave you even confused wondering of the best treatment for Acne. Most of them are not even scientifically proven. Most successful treatments do not work magically in that you apply today and withing a week the acne disappears! Not at all. Acne treatment is actually a process and for you to successfully treat Acne do not jump for those cheap offers available in the market before being sure of what you are especting or consulting a doctor just like you would do for any other deffect.

However some treatments can give quick results and improve some active spots but not usually all spots. The modes of improvement are not necessarily fully understood but we can classify the treatments in different ways. Normalising shedding into the pore to prevent blockage, Antinflammatory effects, Hormonal manipulation, Killing of propionibacterium acne bacteria which are ways of treatment based on the cause of Acne.

In many cases, a combination of treatments can greatly reduce the amount and severity of acne . Those treatments that are most effective tend to have greater potential for side effects and need a greater degree of monitoring, so a step by step approach recommended. Many people consult their doctors when deciding which treatments to use, especially when considering using any treatments in combination.

There are a number of treatments that have been proven effective. These examples are like Topical bactericidals which are widely available OTC bactericidal products containing benzoyl peroxide and may be used in mild to moderate acne. Others are Topical antibiotics which are Externally applied, Oral Antibiotics, Hormonal treatments especially in women through some contraceptions. Topical retinoids which are a group of medications for normalizing the follicle cell lifecycle can also be used. Also Oral retinoids (a daily oral intake of vitamin A), phototherapy, laser treatment and not forgetting the natural acne treatments. This is just light pass of minute information that you need to kick acne out of your life.

Keeping your skin clean is very important in preventing acne. By keeping your skin clean, using either cleansers or just plain soap and water, excess dirt, oil and sweat are removed which would otherwise have clogged up skin pores causing pimples. However over washing is to be avoided as it removes the natural oils necessary for ensuring the skin doesn’t become irritated. Gentle soaps or acne cleansers can also be used to prevent acne.

A person with acne should desist from popping the pimples. Though this is assumed to get rid of the infectious pus,in reality it pushes the bacteria deeper into the skin and causes irritation round the area. A skin toner is a better solution for dealing with the pimples. Avoiding stressful situation prevents acne breakouts to those people who experience breakouts when stressed. Plenty of rest and eating right puts one in the right frame of mind.

To avoid back and chest acne, lose clothing is recommended. Tight clothing aggravates acne and may increase breakouts. This is because tight clothing traps sweat close to the skin, which leads to clogging of skin pores. Please, take my advice. Do not use any treatment products without knowledge of how it works. Get enough advice from your doctor on how to treat Acne and do not be in a hurry to treat Acne because it may worsen the situation. Acne will not disappear tomorrow for applying a treating cream on to your skin. Please give it time and follow the directions well.
